Kununurra, an Indigenous word meaning ‘big water’, is a perfect oasis on the river’s edge among scenic hills in the far eastern corner of the Kimberley region and it forms a hub around the Ord River Irrigation Project.

Despite being a relatively young town, it is the largest town north of Broome and a town centre for the thriving agriculture, mining and tourism industries of the region.

Kununurra is a picturesque place and fun to explore, with galleries, cafes, pubs and even a local distillery giving you a taste of the region’s producers, creators and craftspeople.
