Combine a (J3) Ord River Discoverer with Sunset with a Bungle Bungle Air Adventure! Taking off from Kununurra in a Kimberley Air Tours plane, see the Ord River Irrigation Area, the mighty Ord River and Spillway Creek, the overflow for Lake Argyle. From the air, you will view the Durack Family Homestead, Argyle Downs and the Ord River Hydro power station in action below the Ord Top Dam wall. Continue your adventure down the full 60km expanse of Lake Argyle. learning about the cattle and mining industries as you pass over working Kimberley cattle stations and the Bow River Diamond Mine.
Admire the 240,000 ha Purnululu National Park, as the Bungle Bungle massif rises 300m out of the desert to meet you. Discover the awe inspiring striped bee hive domes and the famous Cathedral Gorge and Piccaninny Gorge as you orbit the range and see the Argyle Diamond Mine, the largest producer of pink and coloured diamonds in the world and the Carr Boyd range on your return to Kununurra.
For your Ord River Discoverer with Sunset, you will be collected at 11.30am and taken by coach through Durack country to Lake Argyle. As we near Lake Argyle, we will take a short break at the historic Durack Homestead Museum. This Museum was constructed as a replica of the original family Homestead and uses the original Homestead stone.
Re-boarding the coach, we drive the short distance to Lake Argyle Resort before viewing the enormous Lake Argyle from a scenic look-out. Crossing the Ord Top Dam wall, guests will see the Ord Hydro-Power Station before boarding their Triple J Tours boat for your scenic 55km journey back to Kununurra. Marvel at the spectacular scenery, wildlife, flora and fauna found along the way, including the elusive freshwater crocodile! Enjoy afternoon tea at our riverside camp before heading back to Kununurra. Take in a colourful East Kimberley sunset before docking back at the Marina and re-boarding your coach for your accommodation drop-off at around 6.00pm.
